gate crashers
have you ever gate crashed a party? well, we haven't as well but we sure felt like we did last saturday! :p here's the story: friday night, when hubby was on his way home, he met A - one of our fellow pinoys here, on the street. A mentioned that tomorrow (saturday) is the despedida get-together for mr. E since he will be going back to the philippines after several months of stay here. he said it's at 7p.m. at another pinoy's home. we didn't receive any email or other communication regarding this, so when hubby told me about this, i asked him if he was sure we were invited... and he said, yes, why would we not be invited? (sya nga naman, ano?) - or so we thought! that saturday was a busy day for us since we had an all day long activity in a place 30 minutes from ours & the despidida venue so i didn't think much of it. plus it was the usual potluck dinner, i didn't prepare any, i had no time - we were told friday evening and it was going to be the next day! anyhoooo, the all-day long activity we had wrapped up at about 6:45 p.m. but the hosts invited us to stay for dinner, i was thinking of dinner already when hubs reminded me of the despedida. i said we're late already and he said, everybody comes in late anyway - no offense, but i guess it's just habit :p. so we told the hosts that we've decided to go to the despedida since we think it's the right thing to do. we would want many people wishing us farewell, if it was us! but we were still having second thoughts, so i called L to check if the get-together was indeed today and if they were already there, and i told her we didn't bring anything since we were not ready... and she said that yes, it was today and that they were just on their way. so we proceeded. on our way, we got lost! ;p we turned in the wrong corner so we basically used up an extra 15 minutes before we finally got to the place. outside, we heard the noise and saw the people walking about in the house and i said, looks like they've already started (of course!). so we buzzed, the host opened the door for us, and when we got in, we really felt like we were gate crashing! it was a small gathering, just a few people... and looks like it was entirely for the pinoy group of that department plus close friends. they were already having their appetizer (california roll, i think), everyone was already on the long table, and there were no extra chairs... so sorry for N & Q, because they had to give up their seats for us! we were not at all expected but what can we do? we're already there, so we just made ourselves comfy and had our appetizer, as well. we just ate the night away and pretended we were really expected :p whew, that was quite an experience... i told hubby, next time, when we are not in the mail list, we're not invited, ok? :) but in all fairness, we were very much welcomed by the party. we did enjoy the food and the company! hubs had to sing the night away... to cover the embarassment! hehehehehe.... hopefully, we won't be having these incidents again, it is really embarassing! :) Labels: bloopers, mom et dad, swiss life |

it snowed today! :)
it's the rain snowfall in the city today... it actually started last night, about 8pm. lovely snow was falling, it looked really nice from our apartment, when the flakes pass thru the rays of light from the lamp posts. the next day was just gorgeous, especially before they shoved the snow along the path and the street - i didn't get to take photos of that though. it was freezing so i just let kuya play with the snow on the balcony. click here for some photos, i can't seem to upload the photos with the blog entry just yet! i'm getting an error message. sharp memory
monday nights belong to mommy. it's the time when one channel here shows u.s. tv series from 6pm in two languages, in english and german - i watch the german version... not! :p anyways, since i should rule the telly from 6pm on mondays, i try to avoid the cartoon network channel because leaving it becomes a challenge. but last monday, i had that accident. kuya franco was watching scooby doo and it was time for desperate housewives. i took the remote from him and told him mommy needs to watch tonight. it took a lot of convincing and strong self-control and trust for him to hand me the remote and give in to what i said. it helped that i told him that after mommy's show, we will go back to his. so we peacefully watched dh and then came the credits. me & hubby were in the dining area when the credits was running, franco saw this and called to us: "mommy, it's finished!". so i said: "ok" without doing anything. but then he said: "it's time for scooby doo!" - i totally forgot about what i told him - that he can watch his show after mine. i hope he keep that sharp memory and be smart until he goes to school and grows up. for now, i have to be careful of what i promise him... :) |

innocent remarks
i've been having my share of embarrassing moments with the remarks my 3-year old utters. here's a sampler: * he calls what he qualifies as an elderly as Grandpa or Lola. sometimes, he just says "hi lola!" to the person who has grey hair that he sees along the way, i don't know really what's his criteria are but he has his own standards - so better watch out! :p * after a general assembly, everyone doing their share of cleaning up the place. our chapter head was busy with packing up his guitar and little franco came up to him and said: "Hi Grandpa, what are you doing?". well, his 3rd child is my age, so maybe it is appropriate, but still embarrassing! * while mommy was having tea at tita H's home (franco busy messing up the place by playing with kuya C's toys and leaving it all over the place). H's hubby came home for the day. FL, probably surprised someone new to him suddenly appeared (since he was very involved with the toys), came up to H's hubby and asked: "Who are you?" * it was meal time in one of our gatherings with friends, some adults went to the kid's area to have their meal. little FL got off his seat to pick something up, someone saw the empty seat so she sat to have her meal. a few minutes later, the little boy came back, there was cartoons on the tv so he searched for his seat, realized it was occupied, he went to it, was nudging the lady saying "ayskusmi, ayskusmi, ayskusmi" (translated: excuse me, excuse me, excuse me). so the lady, in the middle of a bite, had no choice but to get off her seat. haay! situations like these, you only can give a sigh of embarrassment and resignation... but we do teach him manners. he's just in his 3-yr old phase. |

har-har-har
just now, i gave my 7-month-old and my 3 year old boys biscuits for snacks. 3-yo saw 7-mo having a hard time putting the biscuit into his mouth, while observing he noticed something was missing... he couldn't help himself, with all curiosity, seriousness and concern, he had to ask: "Uh-oh! Mommy, where's Simon's teeth?". mommy couldn't help but say "I don't know, where did you put it?" :p ... don't worry, I later explained where it is.... :) Labels: the boys |

permit worry
yesterday, we went to the commune to submit the renewal form for our residence permit here in CH. we got the forms before the holidays last year, sent it to hubs' HR for processing and was returned shortly after, but it was a bit too late to send it back to the commune since they will be off to holidayland soon and might be ignored (which i doubt, really, since they are very organized here - just a bit slow-paced, i think). anyways, hubs' HR said the processing may take about 1-2 months, unfortunately, we won't be here if it takes a month to process. we leave for pinas in less than a month and of course, we won't be able to enter the country without a valid permit! so yesterday, after submitting the completed forms to the commune, we asked how long it will take to process, and indeed it takes about a month, they said! we asked what we can do about it, in case we don't receive it before we leave, and they said we can go to the main "immigration" department of the canton and we can ask for an entry permit. but they said we can check with them by end of january to see if they still have not finished the renewal. but, we didn't waste any more time, and off we went to the immigration department and asked about it. by the way, the people were very helpful and tried to speak in their best english, while i tried to drop some vocabulary from my very very limited french, to show them i was trying... but we settled to speak in english, anyway! :p at the immigration office, i picked a number, was 3rd in line but each client took at least 10 minutes - the boys waited for me in the car. and then it was my turn! :) stated our case, and asked what i can do about it. at first i told him i was advised to ask for an entry permit, but he said they do not issue new visas when the current visa is still valid - ours expires middle of next month, while we are in pinas, and i told him that. he asked for the proof that i submitted the documents that day and went to the back room, took about 3 minutes - probably asked for a second opinion. and when he came back, he said he will call the commune tomorrow morning (which is today) and tell them to send the documents right away, and then he will process it and send it back immediately. he said if he receives the documents next week, he'll process right away and it will be finished by the following week. so, i asked when i can call he said try the 19th. so, it looks like we will receive the visas in time - if everyone keeps their word, that is. we've done what we can do, all we need to do now is say lot of prayers and wait... hopefully, everything will fall in place and we'll have a worry free holiday. :) Labels: swiss life |

loving multiply!
it's exactly 12:00am and i'm still in front of the computer. i just finished working on our multiply site which i've created a few weeks back. one assignment to myself was to update both our blogspot site and our multiply site everytime i make a blog entry, but alas! i discovered that you can actually export and automatically cross post your entries in multiply and here (among other blog hosts). that means, i don't have to choose between the two now. i was actually contemplating on shutting down our blogspot to continue with the all-in-one multiply. but i guess i have that one worry down, i love technology. so i hope to see you in our multiply site as well, i've been posting photos there directly. but i've added all my links there as well, of course! :) |

i've finally decided to collect all my scrapbook projects and put it in one webshots account to put a bit of order in my works, sad to say i can't locate some of my projects since we're reformatted the computer a while back. so, lest i forget, i will post all my finished projects. the digital ones ![]() by frapri_scraps and my manual layouts ![]() by frapri_scraps. next target for me to achieve is to have the digital ones printed and binded. hmm... when would that be? |
Happy New Year 2007!
*![]() Wishing everyone a bountiful year ahead! May our God of hope fill you this year with all the love, joy and peace!!! We celebrated the new year with a little feast of sweet-chili chicken sticks, kilawing salmon, lechon kawali, pad thai noodles, buco pandan and a bottle of champagne. Of course, there were the traditional round fruits on the table, which we really barely touch - we're not the fruity type of people :p. After dinner, we braced the drizzling new year's eve night to watch the fireworks in the town centre which lasted for about 30 minutes. Very nice, indeed! We basically had front row seats! :D Labels: holidays, scrapping, year-ender |
